Hand-held devices causes serious health problems


There is a dark side to high usage of PDAs (personal digital assistants – the fancy name for hand-held devices such as Blackberries, Treos and Palm Pilots), MP3 players and mobile phones.

Hearing loss, eye damage and ultimate blindness, wrist and back damage – all these nasties are being increasingly seen by doctors and specialists, according to an article in the Singapore Strait Times last month.

Solution: Take frequent breaks and vary your activities. Don’t spend all day hunched over anything. Get outside, do exercise, and always remember to alternate any fine muscle work with large muscle movement.
