Walking, running, or showering

Activities like walking, running, or showering seem to produce a high number of eureka moments!

Apparently it’s because they may [the activities] help put the brain in the right state of mind to have an aha! moment. Exercising or being in nature releases a rush of endorphins that can promote a positive, relaxed mood. This, in turn, broadens your scope of thought to include remote ideas and long-shot possibilities. When you’re anxious, you tend to think more analytically.

There is such a things as the "Brain Blink"

The “brain blink” cuts out distraction and allows us to focus inward:

This allows our subconscious can make connections between ideas and bits of knowledge already stored in the brain. Then, eureka! The solution pops into our consciousness.

Bees are always busy!

Honey will last forever!

Pure honey is delicious and over time may change color or even crystallize, however, do not throw it out. Even after many years in storage, and virtually no matter what it looks like, it is still good.

To keep: Store in a cool, dry area and keep the lid on tight. Should it crystallize, simply reconstitute with warm water and stir the honey until the crystals dissolve.

Alcohol is a great lubricatant

Alcohol and hard liquor will last and make it worthwhile to wait!

All distilled spirits like vodka, rum, gin, whiskey, tequila, and others will never spoil, even after opening repeatedly.

To keep: Store in a cool, dark area away from any heat source or direct sunlight. Keep the bottle closed when not in use.

Maple syrup is like GOLD

Maple Syrup will last a long time!

Make certain you have 100% pure maple syrup if you want it to last. Like honey, some syrup may crystallize over time, but it will save forever and the flavor will remain intact.

To keep: Refrigerate after opening but for long-term storage, you can freeze it as long as it is in an airtight container.

Pure vanilla extract will cost more than the more popular fake version, but the advantage here is that it will last forever and you will never waste any.

Joe Biden heads for Saudi Arabia

Joe Biden heads for Saudi Arabia to plead for peace … and a lot more oil

President Joe Biden will discuss energy supply, human rights, and security cooperation in Saudi Arabia on a trip designed to reset the US relationship with a country he once pledged to make a “pariah” on the world stage.

Biden will hold meetings with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known as MbS, along with other government officials, a senior Biden administration official told reporters.

The visit will be closely watched for body language and rhetoric. US intelligence concluded that MbS directly approved the 2018 murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, while the crown prince denies having a role in the killing.

Trump's ex dies

Ivana Trump, ex-wife of Donald Trump, dead at 73

Police are investigating if New York socialite Ivana Trump died after falling down stairs in her Upper East Side home.

Ms Trump, the first wife of former US president Donala Trump was found dead in her townhouse on Thursday afternoon (local time).

Police sources say Manhattan paramedics, responding to a call for cardiac arrest, found the 73-year-old unconscious and unresponsive at the bottom of a set of stairs.

She was reportedly late for her regular hairdressing appointment, a day before heading to St Tropez on holiday.

The police are investigating whether Ms Trump fell and, if any fall contributed to her death, the sources said. A medical examiner will determine her cause of death.

Will the plane take off?

Qantas is rescheduling or cancelling half of all flights that are scheduled to fly!

With flights being cancelled on the day, it’s worth refreshing your consumer entitlements while travelling. Even when you are seated in a plane it might not take off! What happens then?

Under Australian consumer law, airlines must provide travel services within a “reasonable time”, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The ACCC says passengers may be entitled to a replacement flight or a refund if their flight is cancelled or delayed for a long period of time.

“What constitutes a reasonable time will depend on the circumstances and may not be the same each time you travel,” it notes on its website.

“If the airline refuses to fix the problem or takes too long, you may be able to have the service provided by another airline and recover the costs of the replacement flight.”

Albanese Government will create a kinder Australia

The new Parliament gives Australia a fresh start. A new opportunity to express our love of this country and what we can achieve together.

Today the 47th Parliament will sit for the first time. New voices. Experienced ministers. A big agenda.

From the smoking ceremony to open the Parliament through to the first speeches of Australia’s newest representatives. The symbolism for renewal is strong.

Parliament will be different. More respectful debate, more diversity, more family friendly.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the team are determined not to waste this opportunity for our nation.

Over the last two months we have seen a positive change in tone on both how we talk to one another at home and how we present Australia to the world.

We see an opportunity to bring the country together. Not to just write a new chapter. A chance to build it.

Talk of nation building in recent times has become too focused on the physical infrastructure that makes our community tick. Rail, roads and the rest. We need to build the social infrastructure that takes our country forward too.

That is why this government will recommit Australia to true nation building in all forms.

Building stronger foundations with First Nations recognised in our constitution and heard though enacting the Uluru Statement.

Building integrity throughout government with respect for our institutions and democracy at the core.

Building our future through the opportunities of renewable energy and legislating our commitment to act on climate change.

Building the security of the 21st century. Secure jobs, securing Australian manufacturing and an even more secure nation.

Leading Australia through the next stages of our health, economic, security and climate challenges will need us to be more united than ever.

That is why we are bringing together ideas from across Australia at the Jobs and Skills Summit in September with contributions from community, business and representatives of working people.

And you will see new WA voices in Parliament too. Senator Fatima Payman, former police offer Sam Lim, climate change engineer Zaneta Mascarenhas, small business owner Tania Lawrence and Tracey Roberts who brings her experience as a successful mayor of a successful council.

Their first speeches are going to be worth listening to and worth reading.

Speeches of emotion and hope. That is because politics is the business of both policy and emotion.

Relief has been the dominant emotional reaction of the nation to the change of government.

Held within this emotion is a recognition that some things had got bad, standards had slipped, our hopes for Australia were left wanting.

Our government will turn this around and use every day of Parliament to make a difference.

Once again we can begin to raise the standard. Integrity is key to our legislative priorities from introducing a bill for a National Anti-Corruption Commission by the end of 2022 through to acting on the recommendations of Kate Jenkins to improve the standards of Parliament as a workplace.

On election night Anthony Albanese said “I want Australia to continue to be a country that no matter where you live, who you worship, who you love or what your last name is, that places no restrictions on your journey in life.”

No one held back, no one left behind.

Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II

The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is being celebrated in 2022 in the Commonwealth of Nations to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth 11 on 6 February 1952.

In the United Kingdom, there was an extraHoliday on 3 June and the usual spring bank holiday was moved from the end of May to 2 June to create the four-day Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend from Thursday, 2 June, to Sunday, 5 June. It is the first time that any Monarch in British history has celebrated a platinum jubilee. Initiatives to commemorate the jubilee were also announced by the governments of those other realms—including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Jamaica, and Papua New Guinea—of territories, , and of other Commonwealth nations member-states, like Gambia, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.

Commemorative stamps and coins were issued by several Commonwealth nations and beacons were lit in every Commonwealth capital for the first time. In many places, trees are also being planted in the Queen's honour.

Saudi Arabia’s controversial new golf tour collides with reality

There are lots of things one might say about the new Saudi-sponsored LIV Golf Tour, a blatant attempt to “sportswash” the kingdom’s shaky public image. The new initiative has roiled the ranks of professional golf, though its initial events haven’t drawn much of a crowd. Although the Saudi initiative may never manage to compete with the Masters Tournament, it illustrates the obstacles that new challengers face when they try to compete with an established order. Indeed, one sees similar forces impeding China’s efforts to supplant the present array of international institutions with ones that are better suited to Chinese preferences.

For those of you who don’t pay any attention to sports, the LIV Golf tour is a new set of golf tournaments backed by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund. It has enticed a number of famous professionals to enter its events by offering big upfront payments to established stars, promising big purses to the winners, and guaranteeing that all participants will take home a sizable paycheck even if they finish dead last. In response, the PGA Tour and other prominent golf organisations (including the R&A Association, which operates the British Open) have declared that those who join the LIV tour will be ineligible for existing tour events.

Although the PGA’s decision raises some interesting legal issues. Here’s why I think the LIV tour faces an uphill battle: It has gobs of money from the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, but it has no history. It sponsors no iconic tournaments that golfers have dreamed of winning ever since they were kids and that fans look forward to every year. Golf is a sport that venerates tradition, and the LIV tour has none. As former US Open winner Jpn Rahmput it: “I want to play against the best in the world in a format that’s been going on for hundreds of years.”

Ukraine: Preparing for the worst as situation at nuclear plant ‘approaches critical’

It is relatively unusual in Ukraine for a government official to invite you on a short-notice trip.

It turns out it is more common for that invitation to come with very little detail.

The main reason for that is security - it is not exactly wise to publicise when aminister is going to be somewhere, especially when you are being invaded by another country.

We decided to accept, and soon found ourselves at an airfield near Kyiv, where we and other journalists were led onto a helicopter.

By this point we knew our destination was the city of Zaporizhzhia, and the subject was the growing danger from the region's nuclear power plant further south.

Within 30 seconds of the journey starting, I realised why we were offered anti-nausea tablets before taking off.

To stay undetected, the pilot keeps the helicopter around 10 metres off the ground, occasionally hurdling over electric powerlines.

There are endless fields of sunflowers. Some are in full bloom, some are wilting, past their best. Regardless, the harvest is fast approaching.

Then there is the dense woodland - thousands upon thousands of towering trees which come so close to touching the skids of the chopper.

You are left under no illusion of Ukraine's vast and rich landscape.

After landing in Zaporizhzhia, you are struck by two things: the more industrious skyline in comparison to Kyiv, as well as the humidity.

We end up at a supermarket car park where emergency workers are dressed in yellow hazmat suits. They are practising cleaning drills in the event of a radioactive contamination.
