ith flights being cancelled on the day, it’s worth refreshing your consumer entitlements while travelling. Even when you are seated in a plane it might not take off! What happens then?
Under Australian consumer law, airlines must provide travel services within a “reasonable time”, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
The ACCC says passengers may be entitled to a replacement flight or a refund if their flight is cancelled or delayed for a long period of time.
“What constitutes a reasonable time will depend on the circumstances and may not be the same each time you travel,” it notes on its website.
“If the airline refuses to fix the problem or takes too long, you may be able to have the service provided by another airline and recover the costs of the replacement flight.”
