Jack Bendat AM, was an American born Australian Businessman and philanthropist, and the former owner of the Perth Wildcats basketball team.
He made his fortune in property development in the 1970 developing shopping centres in partnership with Kerry Stokes, and later invested successfully in Radio, in television and wine.
“Jack will be fondly remembered for the incredible impact he had on not just basketball, but the wider Western Australia community.
“Since Jack bought the Wildcats in 2007, the club have won six championships and become the model franchise in all of Australian sport. He turned the club around and was instrumental in making them become the force they are today.
“Jack was also a great philanthropist and was always looking for ways to help others. He had a beautiful heart and gave back to the community in numerous ways. Even in his later years, Jack was one of the hardest workers I knew and he never stopped helping the community.
“Jack was a great man and the legacy he leaves behind is invaluable. He will forever be remembered as a giant in basketball and in the community.”
Bendat was 96.
